Because Dodge?

Looking back on my Dart ownership experience, it seems like anything made by the Chrysler Corporation is hit or miss; some people think they’re as reliable as a Toyota, other folks eventually feel like they got a car built by the lowest bidder.

18.3 mpg looks pretty good for a truck like that. I get that mixed with my ranger.

The buzzing is the lockout solenoid. Don’t Overestimate Dodge’s Gas Economy. Try moving the buckle on the strap when not in use.

A friend of mine gets 20 with his Hemi. And our V6 parts truck with a taller rear gear and 17" tires is getting 24. I’m kinda regretting getting one with 20"s and a 3.55 rear end... but not really. Its 90% city driving so its to be expected.

I want to see what it does on E85.

18.3 mpg is pretty good, and of course it’s hard to park. You did buy a truck after all.

I need to try out some other Rams on the lot, and see if they buzz. I know what it is, but I don’t know if its normal. My kids are in the back of the truck 3-4 days a week, so the buckle’s gonna get thrown back there eventually. I’m going to add a piece of felt tape to the back of it, or on the pillar to stop the noise.

I mean that’s still really good for city driving. Of course my truck is 15 years old, but in the city I get about 12mpg, 18 when I drive fast on the highway. Granted I live in the mountains and city driving means driving to work/the store/home up and down hills in 2nd gear all the time.

Haven’t had the water problem (either of them). The buzzing dial, yeah get that checked out. And thanks for showing me the rear seatbelts; that explains exactly what I hear all the time! Been wondering what that was

And yeah your MPG sucks for a V6. My HEMI is getting better than that ;)

Ah shit, I just found this Tech Tip:

Tech Tip Part Description: Auto Trans Rotary Electronic Shifter

Tech Tip Description: The rotary shifter is designed to actuate a motor within the device whenever the driver places their foot on the brake, with the car in Park (or Neutral). This generates a noise with each brake press/release. Therefore, even after replacing the shifter for a noise complaint, the replacement part will also have a characteristic noise generated whenever the driver steps on the brake. Before performing a repair procedure for a noise complaint, please perform a subjective analysis of the noise coming from the rotary shifter. If the shifter noise is deemed abnormal sound (has an uncharacteristic buzz or grind), please proceed with normal replacement procedure. If so equipped, record the sound with a handheld microphone, or cell phone, and if noise is above 54dB @ 30cm away from the knob, please proceed with normal replacement procedure. For any further questions, please contact (name redacted) at cell (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

Yup it makes the noise. Can’t hear it though if the radio or HVAC is on at any appreciable level.

Of course, you have two more gears and two fewer cylinders.

I just tried an older truck in the shop, it makes a click noise, but not a buzz. But with the ambient noise in the shop it was hard to tell. I also can’t hear mine if the radio or fan is going, so it might just be one of those “Turn the radio up” fixes.

May have to get some fabricated cushion thingies for the seatbelt plastic area if the rattles bother you. I think trucks though should have some vibration/noise to a small degree since its a utility vehicle. I mean once you start tossing lumber & stuff in the back you’re going to have to get used to other sounds.

Oh I don’t mind a bit of rattling, but knowing that it is easily preventable and repairable drives me nuts. I have some felt padding or foam padding I’m gonna stick on there.

If everything is off, the truck is running and I have my leg/knee up against the console, I can just feel it when i push the brake with the other foot. Every now and then it emits a slight buzz. nothing annoying or troublesome, just an electric servo actuating to drop the lock pin.
